Shortlisted Bids: Stage 2

11 areas have been shortlisted to progress to Stage 2 of the Smarter Travel Areas Competition.  The 11 areas will now compete to bid for funding over 5 years to transform them into world class SmarterTravel demonstration zones. 

The 11 shortlisted areas are:

• Cork Metropolitan Area, Cork City Council
• Drimnagh, Dublin City Council
• Dundalk, Louth Co. Council
• Dungarvan, Waterford Co. Council
• Galway Metropolitan Area, Galway City and Co. Councils
• Kilkenny, Kilkenny Co. Council
• Limerick, Limerick City and Co. Councils
• Loughrea, Galway Co. Council
• Navan, Meath Co. Council
• Sandyford and environs, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council
• Westport, Mayo Co. Council

The successful local authorities submitted Stage 2 applications providing data under four category headings - Project Ambition; Design of Project; Information and Behavioural Change Campaigns; Delivery and Implementation Plan.  The outcome of the Smarter Travel Area competition will be announced early in 2012.
